Artist Statement
in brief

Painting is a labor of self-love.

The work is a practice to honor, what I believe is, one of arts’ highest purposes which is to convey the ethereal in such a way that it’s palpable. It is my joy to investigate philosophies, spirituality and mood through gestural markings, stains, and drip techniques. Passion, play, and tension are common themes I explore and they often serve as a catalyst for the work.

My studio is a sacred and profane space. It is home to paradox. I use different mediums such as oil paint, pastels, and watercolor to most accurately interpret either what I feel or what I observe. The majority of my work is in the expressionist and abstract traditions. Each piece, each project is a vehicle for self-discovery.
